What is a clicker piercing ring?

 

A clicker ring, also known as a piercing clicker, is a piercing ring with a convenient hinged click-closure system. This makes the ring easy to open and close without having to handle loose balls or other small parts.
Simply open the hinged section carefully, insert the bar through the piercing hole and press it back into the closure until it clicks securely into place.

What size clicker ring do you need?

 

When choosing a clicker ring, two measurements are particularly important:
Bar thickness (gauge) – for example, 0,8 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.2 mm or 1.6 mm.
Inner diameter – determines how large the piercing ring will fit around the piercing.
The right size depends on the location of your piercing and your anatomy. Not every diameter or bar thickness is suitable for every piercing.

 

What is a segment ring?

 

A segment ring is a piercing ring with a section that can be completely removed to open the jewellery.
The removable segment is placed between the two ends of the ring. Once correctly inserted, it creates the appearance of an almost completely seamless ring.
Segment rings are particularly popular for their clean, minimalist and nearly seamless appearance. Opening and closing them generally requires a little more skill than using a clicker ring. For small or firm segment rings, a suitable pair of piercing pliers can be helpful.

 

Segment ring or clicker ring: what is the difference?

 

The main difference between a segment ring and a clicker ring is the closure.
With a traditional segment ring, a separate section is completely removed and then placed back between the two ends of the ring. With a clicker ring, the opening section remains attached to the ring by a hinge and closes with a click mechanism.
